Stochastic Modeling of Lotus Notes with a Queueing Model

چکیده
With the increasing popularity and diversity of computer systems, quality of services for computer applications becomes more and more important. In order to facilitate the theoretical studies on the computer performance management problem, an effective simulation environment is desired. In this paper, we propose a methodology of extracting a queueing model from the measurements of computer systems. In particular, a queueing simulator in the form of a closed queueing network is constructed from Lotus Notes log files with demonstrated accuracy.

Network Location Problem with Stochastic and Uniformly Distributed Demands
This paper investigates the network location problem for single-server facilities that are subject to congestion. In each network edge, customers are uniformly distributed along the edge and their requests for service are assumed to be generated according to a Poisson process. A number of facilities are to be selected from a number of candidate sites and a single server is located at each facil...
متن کاملA New Model for Location-Allocation Problem within Queuing Framework
This paper proposes a bi-objective model for the facility location problem under a congestion system. The idea of the model is motivated by applications of locating servers in bank automated teller machines (ATMS), communication networks, and so on. This model can be specifically considered for situations in which fixed service facilities are congested by stochastic demand within queueing frame...
متن کاملSynergistic modeling of call center operations
We synergistically apply queueing theory, integer programming, and stochastic simulation to determine an optimal staffing policy for a repair call handling center. A stationary Markovian queueing model is employed to determine minimal staffing levels for a sequence of time intervals with varying call volumes and mean handling times. These staffing requirements populate an integer programmodel f...
متن کاملQueueing Theory with Applications
Much that is essential in modern life would not be possible without queueing theory. All communication systems depend on the theory including the Internet. In fact, the theory was developed at the time that telephone systems were growing and requiring more and more sophistication to manage their complexity. Much of the theory was developed by Agner Krarup Erlang (1878-1929). He worked for Copen...
متن کاملStochastic Modeling and Analysis Using QPME: Queueing Petri Net Modeling Environment v2.0
Queueing Petri nets are a powerful formalism that can be exploited for modeling distributed systems and analyzing their performance and scalability. By combining the modeling power and expressiveness of queueing networks and stochastic Petri nets, queueing Petri nets provide a number of advantages. In this paper, we present our tool QPME (Queueing Petri net Modeling Environment) for modeling an...
